Privacy Policy
Effective Date: April 5, 2026
At Giggity, trust is the foundation of our local marketplace. To connect neighbors securely and ensure every gig is coordinated safely, we need to collect and process certain information. This policy explains what we collect, why we need it, and how we protect it.
1. Information We Collect
To operate the Giggity platform, we collect the following types of information:
- Account Data: When you sign up, we collect your name, email address, and phone number. Our system requires a unique phone number to prevent duplicate or fraudulent accounts.
- Profile & Verification Data: To maintain a trusted community, Gigsters are required to undergo ID verification. We also collect profile photos and service addresses (processed via Google Places API) to facilitate accurate job matching.
- Financial Data: We use Stripe as our secure third-party payment processor to handle platform fees and escrow holds. Giggity does not store your raw credit card numbers or sensitive bank details directly on our servers.
- Activity & Communication: We securely log in-app chat messages, gig history, ratings, and automatically track completed jobs to provide Gigsters with legitimate proof of income.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your data strictly to make the Giggity platform work effectively:
- To connect Clients with qualified Gigsters nearby.
- To process escrow payments securely and release funds upon job completion.
- To verify the identity of our users and maintain the integrity of the community.
- To provide customer support and resolve disputes if a gig does not go as planned.
- To send necessary platform notifications, such as job updates and verification codes.
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal data to data brokers. We only share information in the following necessary circumstances:
- With Other Users: When you post or apply for a gig, the other party will see your first name, profile picture, and general neighborhood. Exact addresses are only shared with a Gigster once a gig is officially booked.
- With Service Providers: We share necessary data with trusted infrastructure partners like Firebase (for authentication and database hosting), Stripe (for secure payments), and Google (for address autocomplete mapping).
- For Legal Compliance: If required by law, subpoena, or to protect the safety of our users, we will disclose information to legal authorities.
4. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures, including data encryption and secure token authentication, to protect your information. However, no digital platform is 100% secure, and we encourage you to protect your account password and use our in-app chat rather than giving out your personal phone number.
5. Your Rights and Choices
You have the right to access, update, or delete your personal information. You can manage your profile details directly within the Giggity app. If you wish to permanently delete your account and associated data, please contact our support team.
